Setting up email forwarding

Forward email from one address at your domain to another inbox using cPanel Forwarders, and how to avoid forwarded email landing in spam.

2 minute readLast reviewed 16 October 2026

A forwarder sends a copy of every message for one address to another inbox. It’s useful for addresses like sales@ or accounts@ that don’t need their own mailbox.

  1. Log in to cPanel. You can open it from your client area (choose your hosting service, then Login to cPanel), or go to yourdomain.co.uk/cpanel.
  2. In the Email section, open Forwarders.
  3. Click Add Forwarder.
  4. In Address to Forward, type the first part of the address (for example sales) and choose the domain.
  5. Choose Forward to Email Address and enter the inbox it should go to.
  6. Click Add Forwarder.

Send a test message from a different email account to check it arrives.

Forwarding to Gmail or Outlook.com?

Big email providers are strict about forwarded messages, because forwarding can look like spoofing. If forwarded email goes missing or lands in spam, a better option is to create a real mailbox and connect it to Gmail or Outlook with IMAP, which keeps the original message intact.
