Creating an email autoresponder

Set up an automatic out-of-office reply in cPanel with start and end dates, and how to avoid replying to the same person over and over.

2 minute readLast reviewed 16 October 2026

An autoresponder sends an automatic reply to everyone who emails you, which is ideal for holidays or for confirming you’ve received an enquiry.

  1. Log in to cPanel. You can open it from your client area (choose your hosting service, then Login to cPanel), or go to yourdomain.co.uk/cpanel.
  2. In the Email section, open Autoresponders and click Add Autoresponder.
  3. Choose the email address it’s for.
  4. Enter a From name and a Subject, such as “Out of office until Monday 4 August”.
  5. Write your message in Body. Say when you’ll be back and who to contact if it’s urgent.
  6. Set the Interval to 24 hours, so each person gets your reply no more than once a day.
  7. Choose a Start and Stop time, then click Create.

The autoresponder switches itself off at the stop time. You can edit or delete it at any time from the same page.
